SHONA DUTHIE
Hello, I am Shona.
“I’ve spent the majority of the past twenty years working in the Health and Social Care sector as a Support Worker supporting adults with learning disabilities, the elderly, and latterly providing support for people living with dementia.
During this time I’d always been interested in complementary therapies but the timing just wasn’t right to undertake any training. However, many years later, my girls had all grown up and I discovered a thing called spare time!
In 2020, I heard about Emmett Technique and was intrigued by this gentle light touch therapy. I completed the introductory short course then continued by signing up for Practitioner training at the Urban Wellness Hub. Having enjoyed the training so much I decided that I wanted to continue learning and completed a Diploma in Complementary Therapies, with the Complementary Therapy School. And now offer Swedish Massage at the Hub.
Last year, I decided that although I thoroughly enjoyed my previous job it was time for a change as health and wellness is my passion. Like magic, an advert appeared for a Wellness Support Associate within the Urban Wellness Hub, and I picked up the courage to apply and could not believe it when I got the post! I now work in a beautiful space, am surrounded by knowledgeable, experienced therapists and most importantly have been made to feel like I am very much part of the Float family.
Dreams do come true!!
